PESHAWAR: The provincial cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Special Assistant for Information Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, speaking to the media after the cabinet meeting, said that the Chief Minister has decided to complete the survey in the flood affected areas on an emergency basis and send the flood victims to their homes. I directed to ensure immediate return and rehabilitation. The provincial cabinet expressed concern over the non-receipt of 10 billion rupees announced by the federal government for the flood victims.
He said that the federal government is not paying more than 275 billion rupees dues of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and condemned the delaying tactics of the federal government in the payment of provincial revenues and expressed his determination to strongly protest.
After the meeting of the Provincial Cabinet on Tuesday, Provincial Spokesperson Barrister Saif said that the Chief Minister has directed a survey to build a dam on the Swat River to permanently remedy the flood situation, the construction of which will enable the production of electricity and the arid lands. Cultivation can be done. Work will be started on the construction and maintenance of small dams in other areas of the province as well.
The Provincial Cabinet has established a Provincial Flood Response Coordination Center (PFRCC) under the leadership of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the provincial level to coordinate relief and rehabilitation activities in the recent flood-affected areas and to inform the Federation of the losses in the province. The Cabinet has approved the transfer of about 7 kanals of land of the Housing Department to the Irrigation Department.
