Peshawar: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Information and Public Relations, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, has said that there are countless problems and difficulties in providing complete facilities for thalassemia patients at the government level, and of course trusted institutions like Al Khidmat are of this kind. can ensure provision of specialized facilities. People should also publicize culture of donated blood in view of increasing cases of thalassemia.


He expressed these views while addressing an awareness event organized at Al-Khidmat Hospital Nishtarabad Peshawar regarding the awareness against hereditary and contagious diseases like thalassemia and raising awareness in this regard among the public.


Al-Khidmat Provincial President Khalid Waqas, District President Arbab Abdul Haseeb, Peshawar Chamber of Small Business founder president and business leader Ehtsham Haleem Jan, Thali Semiya Association Mian Atiq, Dr. Shehzad Arshad Awan, Al-Khidmat Provincial Manager Media Noor Al Wahid Jadoon and others from the hospital were present in the ceremony. Deputy Director Dr. Tahir also participated.


Special Assistant Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that in view of the increasing cases of thalassemia, people should spread the culture of donating blood, donating blood is not only a charity but also useful for human health. Emulate Al-Khidmat in the treatment of children suffering from thalassemia, while the government will also intensify its efforts in the prevention of this disease and besides implementing the existing laws in this regard, attention will be given to further legislation.


He said that as a volunteer ambassador of Al-Khidmat, I will make every effort to provide all possible relief to the patients suffering from this disease by bringing the problems faced in the treatment of thalassemia to the notice of the provincial cabinet and the Chief Minister. Al-Khidmat while addressing the ceremony. The provincial president Khaled Daqqas and Dr. Shahzad Awan said that according to an estimate, more than 140,000 children are suffering from this deadly disease in Pakistan and every year, more than 5,000 children are suffering from thalassemia. It is transmitted to children, he said that cousin marriage is the main reason for this disease.
